We were counting down the days to Dana and Landon’s wedding ever since their sunrise engagement session this summer. The wedding day really felt like a continuation of that morning on Lake Michigan. Surrounded again by the sights and sounds of the natural Illinois environment. But added to this day was the warmth of fun and loving friends and family.
Independence Grove is a place we’ve been wanting to shoot at and Dana and Landon were a perfect match for this unique venue. It’s part of the Lake County Forest Preserve but in addition to experiencing the prairie and woodland landscape, there are recreational opportunities and a visitor center for hosting events. Getting to know Dana and Landon it was apparent why this was a good fit for them. Their love, devotion, and connection to each other is entirely organic. The wedding was a clear reflection of that. We didn’t travel anywhere beyond the preserve and didn’t need to. The grounds offered everything and then some. The open timeline prior to the ceremony allowed us to get in a great session of portraits taking advantage of the sunshine and seasonal colors. The outdoor ceremony was sublime – birds singing in the surrounding trees, rays of sunshine glowing through the trees, and beautiful readings form the best man and maid of honor. The ceremony concluded with the Jewish tradition of breaking the glass. Reception commenced and guests could take in the incredible sunset from the panoramic view offered inside the space. Heartfelt speeches gave way to hugs and tears and then nothing but laughter and dancing. Thank you Dana and Landon for letting us share in this day. Congratulations!
