We love South Asian weddings and cover several each year. Neil and Binita’s Indian wedding was incredible in so many ways. To start, here are two of the sweetest people you could ever meet. Their smiles and laughter are infectious. Add two loving and supportive families, a close-knot group of friends to keep the party dancing, infinite colors, beautiful weather, a helicopter… on and on. It was an honor to photograph this wedding and thank you Neil and Binita for selecting us to document your wedding events. Congratulations!
The couple were kind enough to share a bit about their story and wedding day here:
“We have both grown up in Chicago and attended college in the city where we first met. We had been friends throughout college, but we went our separate ways to fulfill our career aspirations. We met again 8 years later at a friend’s engagement, but this time it was different, we both felt a ‘spark’. That spark is portrayed in our wedding theme, Let Love Shine.
We both share a great love for Chicago and had our engagement shoot at our favorite spots in the city such as the honeycomb in Lincoln Park and of course, at the planetarium.
We had a traditional Hindu wedding celebration, 5 events over a 4 day weekend with lots of color, food, family, and friends. We both felt we wanted our wedding and reception to be different. Neil wanted a special entrance into the wedding and he arrived with a grand entrance on a helicopter at our wedding ceremony at the Meadows Club. Binita chose an elegant, custom-made ivory wedding outfit that was accented by pearls and diamonds and walked down the raised aisle adorned with candles and baby pink rose petals. The ceremony was very simple and lighthearted with a bit of humor….like our personalities. As the ceremony ended, Binita said her goodbyes and we embarked on our journey as Mr. and Mrs. leaving in Neil’s favorite car, a white Ferrari convertible.
Our reception was held at an elegant, Italian banquet hall, Venuti’s in Addison with an Italian menu. We wanted to focus on using lighting and candles to incorporate our theme, Let Love Shine. Our family and friends put in a great deal of work on the performances, dances, and speeches that highlighted our personalities and future life together. After a plated Italian dinner, Jimmy, Binita’s brother-in-law, sang an elegant Indian song “Tum Hi Ho” followed by “All Of Me” by John Legend for our first dance. The celebration continued with friends and family filling the dance floor to music mixed by the best, DJ Krush.
We can’t thank Michael enough for beautifully capturing all of our special moments and emotions throughout the weekend. He is truly an amazing photographer!”
