We’re going to head about 4 hours North of Chicago for this gorgeous and unique wedding in beautiful Door County, Wisconsin. Once meeting Rachel and Joe and hearing them describe the property, the wedding arrangements, and the overall “feel”, we knew we were in for a special treat. While the couple lives in Brooklyn, NY, the lakehouse and area holds a special place to Rachel and her family as they’ve spent so much time there throughout the years.
The wedding day was perfect with abundant sunshine and a comfortable breeze coming off the lake. By the time we arrived Elizabeth from Anticipation Events, who we’ve worked with many times prior, had already worked her magic. After shooting around the grounds and feeling at home thanks to Rachel’s awesome parents, we worked with Rachel and girls and then Joe and the guys. Shortly after that guests starting arriving and the ceremony got underway. A tender and heartfelt ceremony which included many poignant readings from family and friends. Rachel and Joe provided their own moving vows and closed with a dance accompanied by everyone singing “When I’m 64.” Once leaving their seats, guests picked up cones filled with perennial flower seeds and dispensed them into a future garden. By now a stunning sunset was upon us and we were able to sweep the bride and groom away for photos before losing light. The tented reception was filled with love and laughter and the sounds of no less than 3 bands – all made up of Rachel and Joe’s friends. The night also coincided with a meteor shower that was very much viewable under the clear starry skies. What a celebration for this incredible couple! Congratulations Rachel and Joe!
