We’ve been looking forward to sharing Wendy and Jim’s recent wedding and here it is. We loved working with them and being a part of the their lovely unique wedding at Floating World Gallery. Congratulations!
We met in Florida seven years before our engagement. We went college together, then graduate school, and finally Jim moved to Chicago for his first job opportunity. I was close behind, with one year of graduate school left. I had been making subtle hints that a larger commitment might be a good idea before asking me to move across the country. It only took Jim 10 months to catch on, proposing the night before my graduation ceremony. After conspiring with my friends, Jim managed to surprise me with cupcakes, champagne, and my closest friends at my side. We spend the next year preparing our ideal ceremony: a chance to celebrate with the most important people in our lives.
For our wedding we wanted an intimate wedding in a modern, elegant setting. When we found Floating World Gallery we knew it was right for us. The exposed piping, brick walls, and concrete floors provided the environment we were looking for. The artwork complimented our wedding colors (yellow and grey) and hanging lanterns also added to the intimate ambiance. Many of our family and friends traveled from the Northeast or Florida to share the occasion with us, making it important that we keep the guest count smaller. We wanted the opportunity to spend time with each of our 70 guests. We wanted our ceremony to be short and simple, allowing the focus of the evening to be on the cocktail hour and reception. It was wonderful to see guests from the various stages of our lives and careers finally meet, socialize, and dance with each other! We had a such great time and still smile and laugh when we think of all the fun we had with our friends and family.
